Adult Classes

Water Familiarisation, Complete Beginners and Adult - Improvers  Classes are offered on a lesson by lesson basis - you can find the schedule for these classes on our Drop In Classes page. 

Our Beginners Intensive Workshop and Learn to Swim course is offered on an Ad Hoc basis and you must register with your full name, email address and phone number - either by email (enquiries@alisontamswimming.com) or using the form in the footer below.

Water Familiarisation

Our Water Familiarisation sessions focus on getting you comfortable and confident in the water. 

You should join these sessions if:

  • you have tried to learn how to swim before but can't seem to get the hang of it

  • you do not feel comfortable keeping your head in the water for more than a second or two

  • you can't lift your feet off the floor of the pool

  • you can't let go of the wall or a person to float by yourself

  • you can do all of the above but your legs sink like a ton of bricks so you need to stand up

  • you are considering joining a learn to swim course but haven't been to a pool since childhood - we will let you know if you are ready!

We know you are busy and may be unsure about committing to a series of lessons so we have made all these sessions available on a drop in basis - simply book in when it suits you. We don't have a set timetable for these sessions so please do check the schedule. 

Please note the course will be conducted in the public area of Kennedy Town Swimming Pool to keep costs down - instructions on where to meet will be given once you have booked in.

Beginners Intensive Workshop / Complete Beginners

Our Beginners Intensive Workshop (BIW) and Complete Beginners sessions teach you the basics of freestyle/front crawl and will help you enjoy the water so much more after just one session. Both sessions cover the same content and are open to all but the BIW will prioritise low income workers.

You should join this workshop if you:

  • have no fear of the water (join our Water Familiarisation sessions if you do)

  • have never learnt to swim before or are willing to start from the beginning

  • cannot commit to our full Learn to Swim course

 

Our workshops are standalone 1.5 hour sessions whilst Complete Beginners sessions are 1 hour -  you will learn how to breathe in the water, float, and kick without a board. Some students will already be able to do a doggy paddle or freestyle arms. Please note that this workshop will give you the basics but you should not expect to be able to swim up and down the pool.

Learn to Swim Course

Our Learn to Swim Course is for those with absolutely no prior knowledge of swimming. It focuses on learning freestyle/front crawl over 8 lessons, generally twice a week.

 

You should join this course if you:

  • have no fear of the water

  • are committed and able to make most of the dates -  there are no make up classes or refunds for lessons that you can't attend

 

Please note the course will be conducted in the public area of Kennedy Town Swimming Pool to keep costs down - instructions on where to meet will be given once you have booked in.

Next course: 5, 7, 12, 14, 19, 21, 26, 28 November.

Kennedy Town Swimming Pool - 7:30 - 8:30pm. $2000. - Full but please be added to waitlist.

Improvers - All Strokes

 

Our Improvers sessions are independent drop in classes that focus on a series of drills to improve your technique. 

You should join these sessions if you've completed the Learn to Swim course or the Beginners Intensive Workshop and can do a basic front crawl but:

  • need to improve your technique to swim smoother and further

  • Drills for all the strokes will be given depending on the group mix

Development Group

The Development Group is an on-going series of drop in sessions for those committed to improving their swim as part of their lifestyle.

This is for those that can swim at least 25 metres freestyle without stopping and are looking to:

  • continuously improve their technique

  • build up their endurance

  • perform better in competitive swimming

  • join the swimming community

These sessions are run by Fastlane Swimming (Coach Alison's competitive masters swim team) and must be booked via the Mindbody App. Schedule varies. You will swim in a private, pre-booked lane and do not need to pay for your own entry to the pool.

Private Lessons

For those that need more flexibility or prefer more privacy we can provide private or private group lessons.
