Private Lessons

Private swimming lessons can be a great option for students who would benefit from more personalised attention, need help with a specific skill, or are unable to attend our regular group class times.

They are not necessarily “better” than group lessons — group classes are an excellent choice for many students, offering consistency, peer learning, motivation, and structured progression. However, private lessons may be more suitable when a student has a particular goal, challenge, schedule limitation, or learning need that would benefit from focused one-to-one coaching.

Why Choose Private Lessons?

Private lessons may be helpful if you or your child would like to:

  • Focus on mastering a particular swimming skill

  • Overcome a specific difficulty, such as breathing, body position, confidence, or a stroke correction

  • Get help with a particular issue, such as returning after surgery or correcting breaststroke kick

  • Progress in a shorter period of time through more individual attention

  • Build confidence in a quieter or more personalised lesson setting

  • Arrange lessons at times when group classes are not available

  • Have lessons at home, if suitable and available

Private lessons can be especially useful for short-term focused goals, such as preparing for a school assessment, building water confidence before a holiday, or working on one technical issue that needs more individual correction.

Private Lesson Options

Private lessons can vary depending on the student’s needs, coach availability, location, and lesson format.

Lesson Duration

Private lessons may be available in the following durations:

  • 30 minutes

  • 45 minutes

  • 60 minutes

The most suitable duration depends on the student’s age, swimming level, attention span, fitness, and lesson goal.

For younger children or beginners, shorter lessons may be more suitable. For older children, adults, or students working on stroke correction, fitness, or more technical skills, a longer lesson may be recommended.

Lesson Location

Private lessons may be arranged at:

  • One of our teaching venues

  • The student’s home pool

  • Another suitable location

Please note that home or other external locations are subject to coach availability, pool suitability, travel time, and any additional venue requirements.

For residential lessons, we will need the full address so we can check whether a coach is available to travel to that location.

Grade of Coach

Private lessons may be offered with different grades of coach, depending on availability:

  • Coach

  • Senior Coach

  • Head Coach

Rates vary depending on the coach grade. In general:

  • Coach lessons are the most economical option

  • Senior Coach lessons are at a higher rate

  • Head Coach lessons are at the highest rate

Availability will depend on each coach’s timetable, teaching location, and existing commitments.

Lesson Fees and Additional Costs

Private lesson fees depend on:

  • Lesson duration

  • Coach grade

  • Lesson location

  • Pool or venue costs, if applicable

  • Travel time or travel costs, if applicable

For lessons at a student’s home or another external venue, additional charges may apply, such as:

  • Pool entry fees

  • Venue fees

  • Travel costs

  • Other location-related surcharges

Once we have the details of your request, we can let you know what options may be available and provide the relevant rates.

Availability

Private lesson availability varies depending on:

  • Coach timetables

  • Location

  • Preferred days and times

  • Lesson duration

  • Coach grade requested

  • Whether lessons are at our venue, your home, or another location

Because availability can vary significantly, it is helpful if you provide as much information as possible when contacting us. This allows us to suggest the most suitable and realistic options without unnecessary back and forth.

Information We Need From You

To help us check availability and make suitable suggestions, please include the following details in your enquiry.

1. Who Are the Lessons For?

Please tell us:

  • Whether the student is an adult or child

  • If the student is a child, their age

  • The student’s current swimming level or experience, if known

For example:

The lessons are for my 6-year-old child. She can swim a few metres but is not yet confident in deep water.

Or:

The lessons are for an adult beginner who is nervous in the water.

2. Where Would You Like the Lessons?

Please tell us where you hope to have lessons.

If you would like lessons at a residential pool:

Please provide the full address of the residence, including area and building name if applicable.

This helps us check whether a coach is available to travel there and whether travel costs may apply.

If you would like lessons at one of our teaching venues:

Please tell us which location or locations you are interested in.

If you have another location in mind:

Please provide the location name, address, and any relevant details about access, pool entry fees, or booking requirements.

3. When Would You Like the Lessons?

Please provide as much detail as possible about your availability.

Please include:

  • Preferred days

  • Preferred times

  • Other possible days or times

  • Any definite times you are not available

  • Whether you are looking for ongoing lessons or a short-term arrangement

  • Any specific time frame, if applicable

For example:

We prefer Tuesdays or Thursdays after 4:00pm, but could also do Saturday mornings. We are not available on Mondays. We are hoping to start within the next 3 weeks.

Or:

I am only in Hong Kong for 4 weeks and would like 2–3 lessons per week during that period.

4. Why Are You Looking for Private Lessons?

Please let us know the main reason for your enquiry.

For example:

  • You want to learn a particular skill

  • You need help with a specific issue

  • You would like stroke correction

  • You are preparing for a test, race, holiday, or school requirement

  • You are returning after surgery or injury

  • You are looking for more confidence in the water

  • Group lesson times are not convenient

  • You prefer one-to-one support

The more we understand your goal, the better we can advise on lesson length, coach grade, frequency, and whether private lessons are the most suitable option.

What Happens Next?

Once we receive your details, we will review:

  • Suitable coach availability

  • Possible lesson locations

  • Recommended lesson duration

  • Coach grade options, where available

  • Relevant rates and any additional charges

We will then let you know what options are available or whether the request is viable based on coach schedules, location, and your preferred timing.

If private lessons are not currently available or not the most suitable option, we may suggest an alternative, such as a group course, a different venue, or a different time frame.
